Lust for Life

I will admit to only a fringe interest in Iggy Pop and/or Iggy and the Stooges, but you can’t really ignore how catchy (and *gasp* popular) this song was.
Used in film I really liked; Trainspotting

Back in the day Iggy Pop fronted the seminal punk rock band Iggy and the Stooges. (Btw the phrase ‘seminal punk rock band’ are 4 words found together in some of the most self aggrandizing, pretentious,’I’m so fucking cool cause I know about old punk rock’ music writing on the planet. I use it in mockery). Their most well known hit is this one, which is sort of interesting because if I remember my urban legends right he wrote it about his then lover/bff David Bowie.

This song is what led me to this Iggy Pop diatribe in the first place. The Passenger, which is one of my favorite songs to find cover versions of. I know, strange girl, strange hobby.

one of my absolute favorite cover versions The Passenger, which I was shocked to even find on YouTube. The quality is pretty flat but here it is just the same, the former frontman for INXS, Michael Hutchence

and not to be outdone, here’s Siouxsie and the Banshees covering it.
